Hello,
Welcome to my blog dedicated to helping you quit smoking. Well actually I don’t mean that… for anyone can quit smoking (you do it every night while you are asleep, or during a long-haul flight!)… but you know what I mean… I’m talking about never ever thinking or wanting a cigarette or tobacco product again!
Imagine that… never ever having another thought about smoking… that’s the true definition of being a non-smoker. Right?
And I know that’s a hard place to get to.
So before I start, allow me to share a little about myself.
My name is Jackie Hill. I live in France having moved here some 9 years or so ago from the UK, with my husband. We bought an old property with 3 acres of land and renovated it totally, turning it into a beautiful home and retreat business. Prior to that I ran a successful private practice as a clinical hypnotherapist and psychotherapist, the idea being that once settled in France I would continue to help people who are English speaking on either a 1-1 basis or in groups…
From this developed my successful residential 4 and 7 day Stop Smoking Programme, which has been running for several years now, as well as writing several books on smoking cessation and creating mp3 downloads and CDs.
I don’t see or claim myself as a person who ever smoked, but that’s about who I am now. I’ve wiped it out of my thinking. But I will share with you that like so many I got ‘caught’ in the smoking net as a young teenager (largely due to peer pressure and wanting to feel part of a group) which lasted until I married and had a family. I would like to say that was the only time, but during my 40s I started again for a while. Madness you might think, but I justified my actions as after all I was in a bad place in my life at the time and consequently ‘didn’t care’ what I was doing!
Another personal reason why I feel so passionate about helping people quit smoking, is that I nearly lost my sister, and I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2003 and had to have half a lung removed. Being in her mid-sixties and a Lupus sufferer things didn’t go smoothly with the whole procedure… I still occasionally get flash backs to seeing her in the hospital with tubes and bottles removing the fluids off her lungs. Anyway, the good news is that she did get over it and is doing really well. A second chance, and I’m pleased to say she has never touched another cigarette since.
So that’s a little about me and why I’m writing this blog… If I can use my skills, knowledge and experience to help you quit smoking then I’ve made a difference in the world. And who knows I might even save lives…
So watch out and sign up to this blog if quitting smoking is one of your goals for this year. I hope you’ll find it a valuable resource to help you in your own personal journey.
Thanks for taking the time out to read this and stay tuned for more!
